Chinese Defense Ministry Issues Statement Playing Down Near Collision at Sea By BREE FENG December 18, 2013
1. "The Chinese economy is so intertwined with the rest of the world that a peaceful path of development is both necessary and inevitable."
There is a limit to what most cultures will endure regards tyranny before they determine it is not worth the shiny new toy and they have it built elsewhere. China has to realize they are not indispensable as they have clearly led themselves to believe what is 'intertwined' can be unwound or simply thrown away to start again elsewhere. Chine by its continuing actions are making that cost benefit analysis look very favorable in regards moving elsewhere.
2. "As China grows richer, everyone benefits." Therefore back off.
Money is not everything - if you live in a loving family fluctuating fortune makes it clear very quickly what being 'rich' means in real life and it is not 'owning' what China can make or the money which may accrue to you because of trade with China direct or indirect.
'everyone benefits' - Not necessarily, for instance even in China itself development can come at a cost higher than the benefits if your industries and infrastructure developments create environmental disasters, also it assumes China is honest in its dealings with Other i.e. not stealing other peoples intellectual property.
Having a jackboot on your throat whilst communicating with your tormentor does not appear to me to be much of a benefit.
Also someone else who is not a brutish militarist can do the job of delivering goods and services without putting a gun to your head.
3. "..military relations between China and the United States “face a good opportunity for development.”
History dictates the actions undertaken by China will inevitably lead to war. China, along with Russia, are relying on the Armageddon gambit, so often used by brutish militarists to enforce their will on Other and believes it can push the boundaries bit by bit under this threat - there comes a point.
No ally or friend boasts of a capacity to destroy your citizens at will - if you do not adhere to their demands.
“If we launch our DF 31A ICBMs over the North Pole, we can easily destroy a whole list of metropolises on the East Coast and the New England region of the U.S., including Annapolis, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Portland, Baltimore and Norfolk, whose population accounts for about one-eighth of America’s total residents,' the Chinese news agencies including Global Times said (2012) and added 'which means that China for the first time has acquired the strategic deterrence and second strike capability against the United States.'
China reveals its ability to nuke the US: Government boasts about new submarine fleet capable of launching warheads at cities across the nation By DAILY MAIL REPORTER 2 November 2013
Who are they kidding? Themselves clearly.
Given China's clear threat of annihilation of US cities in the article above serious consideration must be given to moving manufacturing back to home countries as China is clearly not a Western ally but an enemy. No ally or friend boasts of a capacity to destroy your citizens at will - if you do not adhere to their demands.
There is an alternative for China rather than looking outward to define its power and prestige, and cause WWIII in the process, the key to China's prosperity and the rest of the worlds increased security exists within.

China's Key to a Secure and Prosperous Future – Redefine the Chinese Cultural Foundation Codex Construct of Women.
Clearly commonsense would dictate China should turn its resources to advancing women’s place in Chinese society rather than utilizing scarce resources to start a WWIII Armageddon with their shiny new boy’s toys - nuclear submarines.
It is not too late for China or the rest of humanity, if China immediately seeks to change its course from assured mutual destruction.
For all humanities sake if only China would refocus its efforts away from destructive imperialistic ambitions and launch reform to 'make' women equal in all things, rather than DF 31A ICBMs to destroy US or anyone else’s cities.
The target equality in numbers within the hierarchy of all segments of society at all levels of society inclusive of religions. China needs to legislate against any doctrine and practice which stipulates women are subject to Man and relatively less deserving in rights and access to power.
So China can be more assured of security and a prosperous future derived from maximizing women’s opportunity to flourish, and humanity can avoid the inevitable terrible conflict China has ensured by its current belligerent actions in the South China Sea and elsewhere.
Given China's clear intent of solving International dialogue with brute force to get its way and given such intent as history repeats infinitum such actions inevitably lead to war Australia I suggest will need the 12 submarines (sub-hunters nuclear preferably) a lot quicker than they can be made a mess of in Australian shipbuilding yards. There is a choice the ability to defend Australia effectively and as quickly as possible or ineffectively when frankly only 2 noisy tin cans costing 10 times what they are worth arriving too late to do any good. Let's face it as far as building advanced navy ships in Australia goes it is an absolute dangerous joke.
Productivity Commission: Building submarines in SA is 'a return to bad old days of protectionism'
ABC, By business reporter Andrew Robertson, 26 Jul 2016
The Australian Labor/Greens alliance, along with Neville Chamberlain Obama, simply live in a world of pantomime where cultural and nation state tyranny cannot possibly exist and if we all hold hands dance in a circle and pretend, it will all go away, and therefore the Australian Labor/Greens alliance cannot be allowed within an millimeter of public policy on this issue. Australia will end up with a bathtub full of flowers and no plug.
